Steve has mentioned recently in
the Combat Mission Forum that the smoke
graphics have been given an overhaul and here is the result of this
work...
NOTE: Due to an issue with my
Video card and the drivers I am using the smoke appears much thicker
and less translucent that what is intended. This is being addressed as
per Steve's message. Still looks very cool though...
Not only have
they tweaked the new smoke and made it translucent but they have also
provided less frame rate intensive non-translucent smoke as well! You
can switch from the translucent HIGH quality or non-translucent LOW
quality versions at will from within the game!

This shows the equally impressive but frame rate friendly
non-translucent brewed vehicle smoke.

This is a non translucent smoke cloud...Just a wee but shorter then
the translucent style but still very effective. By the way, LOS does
not differentiate between HIGH or LOW quality smoke graphics, it's
affected the same for either graphic type.

Buildings and terrain also are utilizing the new smoke.
Here we see another shot of the Low Quality Smoke as the terrain burns.
