Directions to the front lines from a
local villager? 3 Chocolate Bars
Guide to show a 'secret logging road'
around the flank? 5 Cartoons of Cigarettes
That odd sensation suddenly filling your pants?
PRICELESS
For

Tonight' POTD is a
prime example of why I should never take request again! ;-) Actually
it's not bad just doesn't have the OMMPH that I normally
like to put in, but when we look at the the recent holiday, I
guess its fitting... Have a
look Here...
It's starting to really unfold for Bil now and watch as
Fionn continues to dissect his opponent in the Sunken

Just a quick note to let everyone know
that after a day long outage the BTS Combat Mission Forum is back up!
Here is what Steve has to say about the downtime:
Sorry about the outage of service yesterday. As usual, when we take
a day off something bad happens!
For some reason our disk became full. This happened a while back so we
got a new harddisk that doubled our capacity. I'm still looking into
this, but there should have been no reason in the world for it to have
become filled up. There is something like 3GB of space that suddenly
was chewed up in about a week, so the hunt for the answer begins!
Steve
The CMHQ-Annex was
updated today with the German Gebirgsjäger Uniforms and I have also
added unit info windows with full weapons and effectiveness stats! Head
on over to the 'Annex and see for yourself!

Ahhh!!!! A 3-day weekend! Boy, do I need this... Time
to do some relaxing and just kick back. Don't expect too many updates
on the sites until Tuesday as I need to recharge my batteries. I also
have about a dozen new Hero submissions to go through so you can hold
off on those for a while!
Now, that being said I do have a nice update to hold
you over...
First off, coming to the rescue (as is his preferred
style of entrance) Max Molinaro dumps off another hilarious POTD
for us. Seems in a new version of Valley of Trouble some tweaks
to the German Pillboxes have been made to even up the odds. Bring it on
baby! Grab it RIGHT HERE.
The next offering comes from Fionn Kelly as his skilled
ambushers continue to try and hold off against the seemingly limitless
British re-enforcements. Read this thrilling report over
IN HERE.
Last week was a good one for POTD's
and you can catch up on any you missed as well as any from the last 15
weeks in our POTD Archive which can
be reached by FOLLOWING
THIS LINK.

AAR - POTD...AAR
- POTD... Seems to be a good
combination for an update so why change now! So guess what? AAR
and POTD!
The After Action Report
portion is provided by our own Fionn Kelly and he takes us to Turn
14 in his Sunken Lane battle. Good stuff and a true hero falls
tonight. See it all in HERE.
The POTD part for
this evening shows us a brave Marder II as it treads down a broken
street through the shattered town of Ramelle. Zoom in on it HERE.
By the way, in all of about 1/2 second after this picture was taken a
bazooka round ripped into the superstructure and immolated that idiot
Tank Commander. Servers him right for going down a road unescorted by
infantry!

After twelve long minutes of constant ambush and close
combat, Fionn's outnumbered and dwindling defenders of the
Fatherland are starting to realize the enormity of the task at
hand. Faced with ever more fresh British reinforcements can Fionn
keep up the pace and stop Bil's fierce counter attacks? Find out
in the 13th After Action Report
right HERE.
A common message in the Forum asks about map sizes and
limits and similar topics so I thought I would give you an idea of just
HOW BIG, big can be! This POTD
was taken from a map whose length is just about 2000 meters or
1.24280 Miles. And remember, there ARE
bigger maps! See just how big BIG IS right HERE.

I got home today and my head felt as if King Tiger
drove through it so I am just going to take a large amount if drugs and
lie down. However, I did get tonight's update ready for you.
First off we have Fionn's Turn
12 After Action Report from his game of The Sunken Lane
against Bil Hardenberger. Browse over HERE
to see that.
And the POTD for tonight was taken from a bloodbath
Operation between myself and Kwazydog, Dan Olding. People, you
are going to LOVE Operations!!! Check out this crew as they
hightail it away from a marauding M8 Greyhound. And let me tell
you something about those damn scout cars. DON'T UNDER
ESTIMATE THEM!!! See this moment of terror right HERE!

So how many tanks CAN Combat Mission
handle at once? I don't know but here is a little something I threw
together with about 170 Panzer IV's against over a 150 Sherman
M4A1's... Average turn took about 4 minutes to process but play back
was still pretty smooth. Target this POTD
right HERE.
In today's Sunken Lane After
Action Report Bil counter attacks with vigor but is it too
little too late? Head over to the the
turn 11 report and find out.

Like many things English, I am not exactly sure
what 'Cor Blimey' is supposed to mean but my friend from London says
it and I like the sound. For those of you that can't get enough
of the Churchill AVRE here is a little armored convoy as it makes its
way through a claustrophobic tree and bocage lined lane. That
second vehicle is a Sexton by the way. Zoom in on tonight's POTD
right HERE.
Fionn sent in his tenth turn in his Sunken
Lane After Action Report and proves that this battle isn't
going to be a cakewalk after all. See for yourself right through HERE.

Sorry about the late update tonight but that damn Real
Life keeps getting in the way.
As a fill in POTD
(ok I was lazy and I like little bodies being tossed around) we have
Max Molinaro's latest rendition of another Nazi Secret Weapon. Full
size version available HERE.
Fionn Kelly shows just what a little luck and a
Panzerfaust can do in his turn 9 installment of his After
Action Report. Snap it up right through HERE.

Due to a recent illness in my family (umm, that would
be ME!) I only have Fionn's Turn 8 After
Action Report available tonight. Here is what Fionn
has to say about this one:
Killed 1 tank, immobilized another
and managed to kill about 25 infantry.
Sounds good! Check it out

There has been some questions about the scenario and
map editor and their ease of use and powerful features so I figured now
will be as good a time as easy to dust off the old Hotte DAM map
and take a few shots of it with all the new finished textures as
tonight's POTD!
Besides, I am never one to turn down a little self
promotion. For those of you that newer saw the original feature I
ran on this map you can review it in our Special
Events section. For the record, this entire DAM
map took about 4-6 hours to design and build and I had never done a
whole map in the Map Editor before this attempt. I WILL
be releasing an actual scenario with this DAM prominently featured once
Combat Mission is released. Sneak up close to this wonder
of the modern world with Picture
1 and Picture 2.
The number seven is considered lucky for many people
but after tonight's After Action Report
I doubt Bil will think so. That's right, Fionn continues to
take apart his foes forces in a lethal counterstrike in Turn 7 which
is now available HERE.

So far, in all the scenarios that you have had the opportunity
to play in the demos, the weather has always been sunny and bright. In
war, however, the weather sometimes is the worst enemy encountered. Combat
Mission fully recreates both night actions as well as various forms
of inclement weather. Tonight's POTD
has a potent German Panzer force as it makes it way through through a
thick forest during a foggy night. Gaze through the haze right
HERE.
Fionn Kelly serves up another helping of his ambush
bolstered bocage After Action Report
tonight as we now have Turn 6 available and ready for memorization.
Take a journey through the mischievous mind of master right over HERE.
It was only a matter of time before acts of extreme
bravery and courage would start to seep out from the veil of secrecy of
the new Gold Demo Scenario, Valley of Trouble. A.R. Charles
(better known as Babra) sent in this German officer and gun crew who
held firm against incredible odds in defense of the fatherland and the
West Wall. Be advised that this is a spoiler Hero's
Corner picture and text. You can pay homage to this latest
inductee by clicking THIS.

Ahhh, the flowers smell just a little bit
sweeter, the sun just a little bit brighter and the future just a
little more grander today. Why you ask? Well it might have
something to do with this being the day after
I KICKED FIONN'S ASS in our little PBEM game!
Yes, the grand master was taken to task by little old
me and in the end he was forced to surrender to my AU-THORI-TY.
It was quite a struggle and I can fully attest to the fact that Fionn
gave me the hardest contest imaginable. But in the end.. Well
just SEE FOR
YOURSELVES by Clicking THIS!
Today's POTD
captures the moment when pounding mortar fire finally did this poor
peasant farm house in. Click HERE
for a full version and notice the cool disturbance cloud effect that
occurs when building collapse.
In the CM Forum there has been a lot of talk about HE,
fires and collapsing buildings. So I threw together this little picture
galley which is THE ANATOMY OF CHAOS. Its
a little photo journey of some of the effects that can occur to a poor
building caught in a maelstrom of artillery spawned hell. See it in the
New Features Section right HERE.
Over at the CMHQ-Annex the Golden BB's section was
updated with all the collected wisdon on Onboard Indirect Artillery
Fire (how to do it!). So head
over and check it out.

Fionn Kelly gives some more painful lessons to his

This is truly an exciting time around here and you can
really tell that we are all part of something extraordinary!
Ok, Fionn has recovered from the wave of New Demo-itis
that has hit all of us and gotten his Turn 4 After Action Report to
me. It's now been posted with pictures and Fionn's regular modest
delivery style right HERE.
Currently in my hometown it's been humid and hazy and
hot and to get away from it all I like to curl up with a nice Heavy
Tank and some snowy vistas courtesy of Combat Mission. Check out that
new King Tiger texture in tonight's POTD
right in HERE.
The CMHQ-Annex has
been busy as well and tonight it has a new German outfit in the Uniform
Gallery and a new section as well. The new section is called the Golden
BB and will basically serve as a repository for the collected wisdom
that often gets lost in the massive avalanche of threads and posts from
the Combat Mission Forum. Its starts of tonight with a repost of
Moons awesome Polish and German Voice Translations and also has
Part 1 of my own COOL THINGS thread which covers many new
enhancements to the demo that may get overlooked in everyone's
excitement to play. You can head over to the Annex after you are done
here by using the Nav-Link off to the left of your screen.
We have also updated the POTD
Archive for the last 10 days or so and we are now current up
to tonight. This POTD Archive is accessible
through the Main Archives Section
or you can always just click THIS.

Well the bandwidth whore that has become
SPWAW (yeah
it's up finally) is making it near impossible for me to get a proper
update up here but I did manage to sneak this POTD
in for ya. Many of you may remember the Church Of New Scenarios that I formed
way back when the original demo was released. Well the release of the
Gold Demo is very close at hand so I figured it would be a good idea to
reconvene the choir and sing a psalm or two whilst we wait in assembled
blissful anticipation. Join with me my brothers as we prepare for the
day of RAPTURE.
And if any of you NON-Believing heretical pagans
want to assert your own moral fiber upon my cherished sycophantic flock
than gaze at my newest temple of worship and mayest thou thinkest
twice... Double 88's from the lord is my gospel word...

Seems Kampfgruppe Kelly has been cut off
and I haven't received word from them yet. Due to this
communication break down I don't have the next turn in the Beta
AAR ready yet but wire teams have been sent out to restore
communications.
While I await word from them I have provided a new POTD
for your viewing enjoyment. Tonight I have put up a
picture which has just about every cool feature I could think of.
You have terrain fire (caused from a HE arty explosion, smoke, smoke
screens, eliminated unit markers (aka dead bodies), Aircraft rockets,
craters and a cool plane shadow. Note that the plane in this
picture engaged what he saw as a armored threat which was in fact
already knocked out. That rocket attack also severely injured 2
friendly squads that ventured to close. See it all right HERE.

Announcing the turning point for Combat Mission
support on the Web. The all new COMBAT MISSION
WebRing!!! The WebRing is now functioning and we already
have 4 members with many more sure to come. Use the navigation controls
(see bottom of page HERE) to quickly get to your
favorite CM site (ok, your second favorite site that is! ;-) )
List all the sites, go forwards and backwards through the ring and even
visit them in random order! If you have a CM supporting site and want
to be added into the Ring just use the link included in the Ring
Control Panel. We now have a way to link all the sites together and an
even easier way to browse them. The Combat Mission WebRing, bring
Combat Mission even closer to home...
The Beta After Action Report
from Fionn Kelly will be experience a VERY brief pause while Fionn
updates all the screenshots with newer graphics. Some of the pictures
he took when he first played the game have recently become rather,
dated. We just want to provide you with the most accurate report we
can. Don't worry it will be back on track in no time.
Ok, since the above has been keeping me rather busy
there was no time to get a proper update ready (besides, Gladiator
opens tonight!!!) but Max Molinaro has come to the rescue with TWO
new pictures. The first one is our daily POTD
above which you can see in full size HERE
and the second is in Max's Gallery Page
which is located right through HERE.

As promised the next installment of Fionn's
Beta After Action Report is now prepped up and ready to
engage. Get your fill of Bocage Bonanza right through HERE.
Since we are in the mood to fulfill promises, there is
one individual whom has been patiently waiting for some time now for a
little Polish Loving. And no, this time sausage is NOT
involved. It doesn't matter that in the scenario above that
Polish Sexton SP-Artillery vehicle only lasted about 4 seconds before
being riddled by a storm of 20mm shells. I made a promise and I kept
it! See the full sized kielbasa POTD
right HERE.
If you want some more tasty bites with a Polish Flavor
then be sure to check out the CMHQ-Annex
as we have just posted the 1944 Polish Infantry and
Polish Airborne uniforms in the Uniform
Gallery.

MAYDAY, a day marked in passage by
extravagant military parades in all the Communist countries worldwide
and by the senseless destruction of a McDonalds restaurant in London.
So how did we here at CMHQ decide
to celebrate this dawning of the month which will bring the final birth
to Combat Mission? How about a new After
Action Report!!! And not just any AAR, but one penned by our
own Fionn Kelly and the fun doesn't start there. No sir, this isn't
some lame treaties on how to sneak that StuG passed those Hellcats in
Last Defense. Nope, this is a report from an actual scenario that
you may be playing once you get your copy of Combat
Mission. Now be aware that there is allot of spoiler
material in this but its one hell of a ride none the less and one which
we intend to bring you each and every night for 21 consecutive installments!
So sit back, relax and engage your mind as we take you into Combat
Mission like you've never seen! Start this journey of
exploration and discovery right HERE.
To add to this already scrumptious stew, tonight's POTD
was taken from the new AAR and shows one instant in one of the
brutal and deadly battles which occurred between isolated
Panzergrenadiers and the attacking Tommies during the bloodbath which
was this PBEM game. And yes Virginia, those ARE dead bodies! Geez, you
people sure know how to ruin a surprise! See them HERE.
By the way Fionn opted for the more CPU friendly low quality smoke in
this picture instead of the more Madmatt endowed HIGH QUALITY
smoke. He has been beaten severely for this transgression and swore it
will not happen again...
Be sure to drop into the CMHQ-Annex
as well as some more new uniforms were posted earlier! This time we
have 1945 versions of the US Infantry and US Paratroopers.
