March 2001 Archive

Sorry that I didn't get this update ready sooner but you know how real life has a habit of messing up schedules. So without further ado I offer you the second installment of the Week-o-Molek Modathon. This time around we have a really cool Black/Camo Sherman set.

Sorry about the nearly week long delay between updates but much (as always) is going on behind the scenes. So lets begin, shall we?

Gordon Molek...You know him, you love him and over the next week we will continue to remind you why. I Gordon has just put the finishes touches on 8 (yeah EIGHT) new Hi-Res mods for the M4 Sherman Family.  Tonight's mod is a nice Snowy White Washed affair which has several variants to chose from. I guess it's actually not in the right section (being that it's a winter mod) but you can find this new mod in the Allied Tank Mod Page right HERE.

Each day for the next week expect a new Hi-Res mod from Gordon!

Ask any master CM player about unit exposure and they will all tell you the same thing. "Make sure and zip up before Mr. Winky falls off!". But if you want to know about the exposure % modifiers that various forms of cover offer in the game then your in luck as Mr. Juju himself has whipped up an excellent document which charts out in loving detail just exactly what sort of cover that little path of trees really is. Check it out, its a must have and can be downloaded directly using this link.

General Predator also has a new Hero entry tonight and per popular request this one HAS plenty of pictures. Check out this brave 57mm AT crew as they try and hold at the village of Wiltz!

Over the next few days I will be gradually moving mods from the Untested List to their proper positions. Tonight I have moved the DD Add-On terrain mod.

Okay, that should hold you for a while! Enjoy!

Time is short for me this weekend but I couldn't leave you without a little loving. So for your weekend enjoyment, HERE are two new Heroes Corners stories and inductees.

For those of you that have finally made the jump to pure digital music via the wonderful world of MP3's Captain "Boot Me Cause I Love It" Foobar has put together a very cool little MP3 techo-dance track that is sure to warm the hearts of even the most dyed in the wool Grog. Have a listen to it right HERE, note you will need a MP3 player such as Winamp to play this song.

That's all I had time for tonight...Enjoy!

Greetings gamers. Well after a protracted fight with this demon viral infection I am finally starting to feel better and so I threw together tonight's little update. Got plenty of goodies so lets review.

Many people have asked about the former, and voluminous, Scenario Depot that we used to have access to at TGN. Well it's pretty much down the crapper now (and good riddance to those losers!) but thankfully some people were forward thinking enough to save some of it. Thanks to Martin Cracauer I now have all the scenarios from 6-29 to 10-15-2000. That represents just over 200 Scenarios and Operations of every size and type. You can download this first Sceanrio Pack directly from this LINK. The archive contains a text file for each battle as well as HTML page (right from the old Depot interface) and finally the zip file for the battle itself. Its not the most streamlined system but its better than at all. Click on the scenario.html file inside the archive to get a list of all the battles in this first pack.

Seems people just loved the new Allied Field Arty mod so I cleaned up the file a little (fixed the readme and deleted the extra un-needed Mac bmps) and moved it into it's proper home in the Allied Support Vehicles/Guns Mod page located HERE.

Ok, how about some NEW stuff then?!? Alrighty. We have two new mods which while small are pretty damn cool in there own right.  The first is a nice replacement set for the Minefield markers. This set is much more colorful and easy to read and they can be found in the Special Effects and Miscellaneous Mod page located HERE.

Our last mod offering is a totally sweet replacement German Unspotted Unit Graphic and I have to admit that this one just totally rocks! Head on over to the Special Effects and Miscellaneous Mod page and add this bad boy to your mod collection!

While not a mod as such, tonight's POTD, courtesy of Ozzy, shows some nice sky graphics although it appears that this was highly modified and post produced. Still is a beaut and you can see it up close HERE.

Okay, you got your marching orders, now get MOVING!!!!

Still feeling under the weather but I just got a file from Rune and figured you would all like to give it a run. Its #6 in his famous and notoriously evil RunePack series. If you are not familiar with his work let me just say that Rune is one of the most, hmm how to put this, well EVIL scenario designers that have graced the Combat Mission world. You will like what he does. Click here to download Runepack#6.

What the hell, now that I am on a roll I might as well post a new mod too. Introducing Michael Duplessis's new Allied Field Gun mod. From what I have seen this one looks tasty as well and can be found in the Untested Mods list up above.

Wow, I am really getting my second wind now! How about a new POTD?  Well tonight's is from Ed Gosnell and gives a sneak peak at some of his home brewed terrain mods. Get in closer right HERE.

Okay, its been over a week since the night of the big move and as you might have noticed...Nothing else is going on here! Why is that you ask? Well it's pretty simple really... I AM SICK!  I don't know what demon seed virus of hell has crawled up into my immune system and decided to have fun but it is kicking my ass on every front. This was of course very much unexpected but until I can kick this thing then it is going to be slow around here. I have received many offers to help and even contacted a few key people already but I won't be able to do much more than that until I am feeling better. So hang in there and CMHQ will be getting my undivided attention just as soon as I breath for more than 4 minutes without coughing up a lung...

I have a lot of stuff planed including a very much long overdue update to my own Mod Guide as well as never before seen mods, articles and features! So let me get my health back and then its full speed ahead!

and...WE'RE BACK!

Welcome to the newly moved Combat Mission HQ. You should notice much faster web pages and we hope to unveil a new design in the not too distant future. As with any large scale move of this type (over 1.1 gig of data!) there are bound to be links and pages that are still not yet working. I actually know of several that will be getting attention in the next few days. Just be patient with us and we will get it all running before you know it.

By the way, and this goes out to all the Mod Authors, you may again start sending me mods for review and posting here as well as screenshots, Articles, AAR's and any other submissions.
