Feeling pretty lazy today so I figured I would just
throw up a new Untested Mod (Tigers
updated Battered Panther A) and a new patch for the PC Mod Manager.
So... that's all I did! Enjoy! Links are located in table above.
Yeah, I am too damn lazy to post links here too!

Greetings, we hope your holiday was well spent and if
your particular faith has gift giving involved we hope you got all that
you wanted. Even if you didn't we have a little Yule tide offering for
you here. Marco Bergman offers up his latest creation it very well may
be one the best yet. The level of detail is nothing short of
stunning as he plies his trade on the M5a1, Stuart and M8 Howitzer
Motor Carriage. This mod also debuts a new and advanced batch file
system which will ensure that you always have the version loaded when
you need it. This mod can be found in
the Allied Tanks Section right HERE.
As if you needed further convincing, have a look at
tonight's POTD. A
convoy of Stuarts comes under some incoming fire.

Time is short so without further ado, Combat Mission HQ
proudly announces the first PC MOD MANAGER!!!!
Christmas off a day early!
You may have noticed that the Combat Mission forums at
Battlefront.com are shut down for the holidays. If you need your fix of
real time Combat Mission info and frivolity then I would suggest
popping into the CMHQ Chat Area.
Its always hoping! You
can get THERE by clicking HERE!

Wow, here it is the holiday season again and I can't
believe that's been over a year now that I manned the helm here at
CMHQ. Lots of stuff has happened since then and I have never
forgotten what has put us at the very top of the CM website pile.
Bribes!
I can't think of any better way to grease some
palms then to post Mods, Articles, POTD's and AAR's and that's exactly
what tonight's early Christmas present is all about. So lets begin.
Marco Bergamn, you know him you love him, and if you don't
then just have a look above at tonight's POTD to
see why should. That mod will be coming here to roost in the near
future. Have a look at
what he has been working on right here.
Another master of CM Mods has to be Fernando
J. Carrera Buil and he shows why tonight in a new master mod pack with
FOUR (yes, FOUR) new patterns for SdKfz 250/1, SdKfz 250/7 and
SdKfz 250/0's and both Wehrmacht and SS schemes. That's eight new mods!
He has included full docs and batch files to effortlessly switch
between the types. Grab it now
right here.
About
a month ago we began to post a thrilling After Action Report between
Fionn Kelly and his explosively named foe Claymore. Well I finally got
off my fat lazy ass and posted
turns 4 and 5 (with movies and pics) and they can be found right HERE.
Since
it's going to be a nice long weekend how about you pull up a hot cup of
cocoa and sit back and ingest a new Article. It's entitled Infantry
in the Attack and is a great tutorial/primer on the basics of
proper Infantry attacks. People are always asking for more
"hard" features and with the real world background of the
author Todd C. Justice (veteran of the 82nd Airborne who served in
Panama and Gulf War) I think all the grogs and newbies alike we will be
quite content with this effort. Keep on the lookout as I have more from
Todd coming soon. Check out
this newest article right in HERE.
We wrap up tonight with another new Untested
Mod which can be download directly from the table at the top
of the page. Haven't looked at it yet, that would be why it's untested!
So have a great Holiday and I will see you next
week!

Public Beta build 24
Released!!!
Unless some new and nasty bugs pop up this in all
likely hood will be the last beta patch! After that it will be the
Final Official v1.1 patch and then its a short break and then on with
CM2!!! Woohoo!
Remember, the Public Beta's are meant to be installed
over a regular installation of Combat Mission v1.05. If you are
worried about playing with beta code and don't want to potentially
jeopardize an on-going game you should realize that this patch does not
overwrite CM v1.05. It creates a special executable and you can have
them both installed at the same time without any problems.

Pretty busy on the work/home front this week but I snuck up three
new Untested Mods. You get dd's new Bocage/Hedge pack for his excellent
grass set. A nice new pack of pillboxes (concrete and wooden and
winter and summer) and lastly an improved M8/M20 mod which also
comes with cool white wash splash winter camo textures.

I was intending to do a much fuller update tonight
since I finally got some free time but I am having connection issues
uploading anything to the TGN server. As such, I had to cut
it short with just two new mods and a nice POTD.
The POTD shows us just how much
Charles has tweaked the Ai autopurchase routines in the latest patch.
That came from a 500 point Meeting Engagement that myself and fellow
Betaoid Rune waged early yesterday morning. And um, yeah, I kicked his
ass!
The mods of which I spoke are from Makjager and his new
Jagdpanzer IV versions. He has one with a Zimmerit and one without and
they both include some nice documentation and optional textures to help
customize the looks. You can pick
it up right HERE.
Soon as I can get a stable connection going I have much
more to post.

New Beta Patch released! Packed with all sorts of
goodies the second Combat Mission Public Beta patch was released late
tonight. Chief among the new fixes is network support for Windows 2000
systems. Remember, this is still a Beta but once you try a
network game you will never play CM the same again.

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am still
hear but I recently decided that all my troubles could be fixed by
finally upgrading my Operating System and Email to the latest flavor of
the week from Microsoft. Yeah well it actually went pretty smooth but
in the process I had to blow away my registry and of course that means
that I had to re-install all my software, which is what I am still
doing. So give me a day or two to get all comfortable with Windows ME
and then expect a new proper update.

Been too busy to do a proper update but I have added a
couple of new mods to the Untested Area. They are that awesome wooden
bridge (show in the POTD) and some
new High Elevation Contrast Grass. Remember, these mods are USE
AT YOUR OWN RISK ( although the bridge one has been checked out thoroughly!

As you may have noticed I have removed the old Index
Table. I don't think people were using it much anyway and the new table
above is cleaner and makes more sense. I have divided it up into
three sections and will list current and recent Mods and files in one
column, Articles and AAR's in the next and the last column is for a new
feature I will be debuting shortly. As you are all aware I no
longer have the time to run this site as I once did. Updates are now
measure in weeks and days instead of hours. However, I still am
receiving just as many, if not more file submissions. Therefore I have
decided to start a little section called Untested Mods.
Basically when someone sends me a Mod, I will ask them
if I can post it into this area. That means that I will NOT be
testing the mods ahead of time, which has always been my method. Once I
can make time, I will look at the mod and if it meets my approval I
will set it up like all the other currently hosted mods (with pics and
comments etc...) This way you can grab all the hot new mods without
waiting for my slow ass to get them posted properly. I will be uploading
the first of these untested mods in the next day or so. Mod Authors,
when you send me something to look at, please indicate whether it can
be posted into the Untested Mods Area or not. Actually, if
you have recently sent me a mod and haven't heard back from me, just
drop me a line and remind me of the mod and whether or not I can post
it in this area. Thanks!
Of course, there are many Mod Authors who will always
get preferential treatment and they know who they are ;-) In fact, see
below for the work from two of them! Mods from these guys will always
get the red carpet here.
Also, look for a closer bond between this site in Garry
Kumps awesome webpage in the near future. We have some cool stuff
planned for you!
Okay, on to the mods. As you can see above we have
several. Please note that the Sherman III, Sherman and Firefly mods are
not exactly new, but I never got around to updating them. If you
grabbed them from somewhere else they are probably the same. These
updated mods are all located in the Allied Tanks Section.
The Stuart Kangaroo and T8 Combat Car mod IS new
and they look great and can be found in the, up to now, neglected
Allied Support Vehicle Section.
Another killer mod (several mods actually) are the new
SdKfz 251/1, pack along with the /2, /9 and /16 variants. These packs
include THREE different camo patterns each and batch files that let you
switch them with ease and for the 251/1 even change its markings from
Waffen SS to Wehrmacht. Impressive and they can all
be found in the German Support Vehicle Area.

FINALLY! The FTP server is back on line and mods and
other goodies are again accessible. Anyway, expect a full update
here as soon as I can get all caught up.

Just heard from the head honcho at TGN that our FTP
server has gone belly up and may be a while before it's back up. I will
keep you informed.'
18:14 EST
It's Up! It's Down! It's Up, It's Down. I have seen
porn movies with less screwing then the poor TGN FTP server has
undergone recently. Currently the server where all the mods live
is down and until it gets back up, I can't post an update.
Don't cry to me, cry to The Gamers Network.

02:15 EST
Hmm, seems like 2am is becoming my standard update time
anymore. Oh, well, as long as I post an update I am sure you people
don't care.
Okay, where to begin. Firstly I made a small boo boo
last night and put the New Full Foliage Mod Pack into the wrong page. I
have since rectified that and it is now safe in the
Grass Mods Page which is more fitting. I also posted a modified
treepack which has two new and better looking Autumn trees. They are
less bright and fit in much better with the rest of the mod. You can
either download the full tree pack again or just the new Autumn
tree patch available HERE.
Thanks go to Gary Kump for providing the new replacement Autumn trees.
Now, as promised I would like to present to you another
awesome new mod care of Pazertruppen. He has been teasing us with
this new mod what seems like months and its ready and I have it and it
is jaw dropping gorgeous. You HAVE to get this one! It is a
Hi-Res texture but unless you have tons of buildings on a map at once
even low end video cards should be ok. The detail in this mod is
simple stunning, no two ways about it. You deserve it to yourself to at
least check out the pictures if nothing else. The
mod can be found in the Building and Terrain Tile Area right HERE.
Tonight's POTD is
another sneak peak at a new Wooden Bridge mod which will be available
very soon right here. Stay tuned. Have
a closer look right at this wonderful new mod.
Fionn and Claymores AAR will be recommencing with the
next update. Also new Marco Bergman Mods are on the waiting deck!
One last comment. People have been great about sending
in Bug Reports and we appreciate as it is helping us a great deal, but
please remember that we also need the autosaves or saved game files as
well. Those really help us see the issue in progress. Thanks!

02:15 EST
Well most of the expected inexperience with the beta
patch has started to fade and people are getting two and three games
played fully a night. We have been able to identify several
issues thanks to reports sent in and are working hard to fix things as
we are made aware of them. Please keep reporting things as you
see them and be sure to use the forms and documentation we have
provided. One thing I have noticed with alarm is how many questions I
am getting which are answered quite clearly in the comprehensive
documentation that the patch comes with. When you install the patch a
new folder is created called READ ME, in there you will find a How-To
Guide and Bug Submission Form. READ THEM!
Now then, I managed to squeeze in a little time to put up a
pretty damn impressive mod.
First though, I would like to draw your attention
to the POTD. That building is part
of new building mod from Panzertruppen which I will be posting later
Friday evening. His pack includes both winter and summer
buildings and they are truly works of art. Have
a look at what's in store by viewing THIS.
Since I posted the Velvet grass so long ago I have seen
many other grass textures come and go but none of them seemed to really
capture either the colors of Europe or mesh well with the other
textures in the game. Tonight, that has changed. I have
worked quite closely (he would say "ordered him to do as I
said!") with DD for weeks to produce what is a full featured
set of textures which will bring your Combat Mission gaming experience
to new levels of artistic appreciation. The textures as a whole
are called the Full Foliage Mod Pack v2 and include all new Hi
and Low Res Grass, Hi and Low Res Snow with subtle snow shadows, and
all varieties of trees and bases for summer, autumn and winter. What
sets this pack ahead of the others are it's many novel enhancements.
Such elements like double and triple density tree textures, new
underbrush and tall grass and a color palette that goes well with both
the subdued and bright mods which are currently popular. I have divided up
the pack into three components. You can download the trees, snow and
grass all separately. Okay,
enough of my yacking, head over to the Grass Mod page and see for
yourself how nice these look!
