ORDERS
FOR NINTH MINUTE
It appears that
one of the US tanks is going to roll parallel to the front-left row of
buildings toward the road, probably to start blasting my infantry while
they relocate. Therefor Ploebsch, struggling alone with his anti tank
weapon, is ordered to the forward corner of the house, and try for a
shot on this tank as it reaches the road. If that tank comes across the
road, it might destroy Meister’s platoon by itself.
Meister needs to
move farther in order for his first squad to be in command range.
I’ve ordered first squad to hurry to the church to form a new
defensive position. I’ve kept Meister’s other two squads in the
woods to slow an US infantry rush into and through that building.
The survivors of
Lamp’s platoon are over their panic, and are told to join with
Schafer. At least they won’t be alone. Schafer is to hold tight in
the woods; if the Americans want to enforce their control of the town
they will have to clear my men out of their positions of observation.
Hermanns’ Panzerschreck team is to move to the forward edge of the
woods and, hopefully, will get a shot on an American tank from there.
If he were already further to his right, he would be able to shoot
through the town at the US tank that is threatening Meister’s
platoon.
Beerbauer is to
stop firing; the US infantry are not near that spot anymore. Instead,
he is to hold tight in the hope that the US tank will move into a
position to be shot.
Machen’s
mortar is to fire at an area to the town’s front left where an
American machine gun team has set up. He can’t see them directly, but
the proximity of his shelling should inflict casualties all the same.
Bahr is to get
into final position for either a sprint to the trees lining the road,
or else simply move back the way he came, so that at least one platoon
can get out of this battle unhurt.
ACTION
IN NINTH MINUTE
Beerbauer
has a shot at an American tank in front of the town, but before he can
react the vehicle is behind another house.
Meister’s
first squad is fired on several times, and does not make it into
shelter. Thieser’s machine gun team is also forced back into hiding,
and one of his crew is killed by a shell from a Sherman tank.

“The American tank firing is the one that Beerbauer almost shot
at.”
Ploebsch crawls
into position to watch for the US tank that is trundling toward the
road, along the front row of buildings. If it continues any farther, he
will have a perfect shot opportunity.
Bahr’s men are
almost ready to sprint across the open space between themselves and the
trees lining the road. They probably need just one more minute to put
more cover between themselves and the town.
Near Schafer’s
platoon, Hermanns is just a few meters shy of a firing position, while
the surviving squad of Lamp’s platoon, led by Kirchner, actually
regains enough composure to open fire on an advancing tank!
At the end of
the minute, something BIG begins landing near Beerbauer’s gun
position. I hope he is not eliminated before he can get even one shot
at an enemy tank.

“Artillery is landing near Beerbauer, but hasn’t caused him any
casualties—yet.”
