Turn 14
For the purposes of this AAR, I have
assumed the personality of Capt. Turner, unit A-0.

Orders
– Turn 14
A lot of movement this round.
George Platoon coming up on the squads on my left but I don’t
expect them to be engaged this turn.
Dog Platoon laying down suppressing fire for George.
Charlie Platoon rushing the machine-gun in the middle with me right
behind them. Baker Platoon
venturing into the woods to flush the enemy out of there. And Fox Platoon moving left a little. I’m also advancing all three medium machine-guns.

Since the enemy is retreating, I’m advancing to keep up the
pressure.
Action
– Turn 14
Major tactical error on my part. I’ve virtually wiped out George Platoon. 33
Casualties! I never should have ordered them to move last turn.
I knew that it was a submachine gun platoon coming across the
field. I assumed they would
be more beat up than they were. I shouldn’t have closed with them but
kept them at arms length. The one squad I have identified didn’t suffer
any casualties at all. I am
upset at myself for the waste. I won’t repeat this mistake. The only
good thing about this attack is that they eliminated a panzerschreck team.

Do you know what happens when you try to go “toe-to-toe” with a
submachine gun platoon? These two beat-up squads are all that’s left of
what was a full-strength platoon 60 seconds ago.
I’ll be happy if there is anything left of them in another 60
seconds.
Other than that, everything is going
pretty well. Dog Platoon is
still in pretty good shape. Not
sure what to do with them now. The
mortar team I stopped in the middle of the road last turn is raining
shells down on a bunched up platoon behind a two-story objective building.
It’s nice to be on the sending rather than the receiving end of
tree bursts.

Giving the Jerries a “taste of their own medicine.”
This 60 mm mortar shell tree burst definitely caused some
casualties.
In the middle, the attack went
extremely well – better than I had hoped.
Instead of firing at the ground, my tanks seemed to actually be
interested in hitting something. The
two 4-man squads of Charlie Platoon have almost reached the primary
objective building with only one casualty.
Baker Platoon also got a panzerschreck team (the one that knocked
out my two tanks) and finished off the remnants of a Volksgrenadier squad.

The machine gun team hits the deck even as it comes down from the
second story. The dirt, wood, and stone are flying because a 75 mm tank HE
round has just gone off. Not
sure if he was retreating or running away but I don’t think he’ll be
around much longer. [I worked around the 2nd story bug by letting the
tanks target on their own. This
seemed to work much better than forcing them to target the team with the
main gun.]

Baker Platoon takes revenge on the panzerschreck that got my tanks.

My positions at the end of the turn: weak on the left, about to take an
objective in the middle, and gently tightening the noose on the right.
