Orders – Turn 11

The promised reinforcements are here!  A new platoon of regulars (George) have come into radio contact. This makes my decision to attack with Dog platoon much easier. I’ll have George run down the side of the road and to become my reserve/flank protection platoon.    Dog will move out of the woods they’re stuck in and across the road too.  Baker will also continue to move forward to the last row of houses.  I’m also sending the half squad from Charlie to check out a house across the road to make sure there’s no panzerschreck in it before I advance my two left-hand tanks.  Fox platoon continues to move slowly around the right, assisted by two tanks.

I’ll continue to pour down 105 shells on that AT gun even though it’s been ineffective so far.  I’ll also bring a mortar over to get him. Hopefully, he’ll be distracted enough where the mortar will have time to set up and start firing before he even knows what hit him.

Reinforcement sprint down the sides of the road to take up positions on my left flank.

Action – Turn 11

We suffered a few more casualties and a tank was put out of action but we’ve just made some good progress.

Dog platoon’s advance across the road went very well.  Apparently, my arty, while not accurate enough to knock the enemy AT gun out is still making them think twice and he only got one shot off.   Dog is in a much more dispersed yet strong position and will be able to wipe out the squad and infantry team that was coming up on my left flank.  The arty has also enabled a mortar crew to move into a firing position and get a shot off without being spotted.  A few more shots and we should be able to get him in range.  Hopefully, 60 mm fire will be able to achieve what 105 mm fire so far (4 barrages left) could not.   George is on the way up the road to reinforce.

This infantry team (probably a panzerschreck) will never harass my tanks.  It is about to be eliminated.

It took this team 35 sec to move ~40 yards and another 20 sec to get this first shot off but I think they are still undetected.

The remnants of Charlie and Baker platoon also moved forward to form an anvil.  Fox platoon is progressing around the German left flank to hammer them.  Unfortunately, the Germans were able to take out a tank on the right with a lucky shot at 175 yards (160 m).

Sgt. Springer is in a bad position that I hope I can remedy before he panics.  A small move to the right-hand wall should keep him out of sight from the squad on his left.   I don’t the fire from the squads in front of him will be enough to push him over the edge.

This panzerschreck round is about to put Victor-4 out of action.  Fortunately, the crew was able to bail out and get to the safety of the trees unscathed.

Fox Platoon and a tank have “turned” the flank.
